MGA Hive opens global property unit with Brown
MGA Hive Underwriters announced the creation of a worldwide direct-and-facultative property operation, naming Richard Brown as the head of the new unit.
Brown arrives with more than thirty years of experience in the insurance sector. Prior to this role he most recently directed UK and international property business at Sompo, a major global insurer.
The company plans to assemble a dedicated group that will underwrite a global portfolio of direct and facultative property risks. The effort will focus on disciplined risk selection and will seek long-term partnerships with brokers and capacity providers.

According to the firm, the new class will draw on specialist underwriting knowledge, advanced analytics and proprietary technology. Emphasis will be placed on sustainable portfolio performance and the use of data-driven insights.
Chief executive Bruce Carman said, “We’re delighted to welcome Richard to Hive to lead our entry into property D&F. His depth of property expertise and track record of building successful teams make him ideally placed to develop this important new class.” He added that the model gives underwriters the tools, data and autonomy needed to create long-term value for brokers, clients and capacity partners.
