Trioworld earns recycled plastics milestone in North America
Trioworld has become the first company in North America to earn RecyClass recycled plastics traceability certification at its Ajax, Ontario facility. The certification confirms that three of its stretch film products contain at least 30% post-consumer recycled plastic, verified through third-party audits of the production process.

RecyClass applies to Trioworld’s Axis Loop, VMaxx Loop, and StretchMax Loop films. Auditors checked the recycled content and traced materials from raw input to finished product, following the EN 15343:2007 standard. The certification is now widely accepted by packaging producers who need to support sustainability claims in global markets.
Ricardo Cardoso, president of Trioworld North America, stated that the certification offers customers independent proof of recycled content. “This gives them something real to stand behind,” he said. “It is independent, it is audited and it is traceable.”
Ajax facility produces 135,000 tonnes of plastics annually
The Ontario plant, upgraded with a €70 million investment, now produces over 135,000 tonnes of plastics each year. Earlier this year, Trioworld installed a new 67-layer nano stretch film line to boost output of high-performance films with recycled material.
For retailers, transport firms, and agricultural businesses, the certification may ease compliance with stricter regulations. Both North American and European rules now require minimum recycled content in packaging.
Cardoso praised the Ajax team for passing the audit on the first attempt. “A sign to the commitment of our Ajax team and the rigour they bring to every step of our process,” he said.
Trioworld expands circular supply chain efforts
The Ajax site joins several of the company’s European facilities already certified by RecyClass for recycled content or recycling processes. Trioworld runs 18 production sites across Europe, North America, and South Asia, making polyethylene and polypropylene films for sectors including transport packaging, agriculture, healthcare and retail.
It also operates three advanced recycling plants in Sweden, Denmark, and France, processing about 25,000 tonnes of plastics yearly. The latest certification supports its broader ambition to build fully verifiable circular supply chains.
RecyClass certification follows the EN 15343:2007 standard and provides independent verification of recycled plastics from source to finished product. It is increasingly used by packaging producers seeking to substantiate recycled content claims in international markets. Customers seeking verifiable sustainability solutions may find such certifications increasingly important.
