Paladin expands into data centre security market
Paladin EnviroTech, a US-based company, has quickly become a major player in the global IT asset disposition and electronics recycling industry. The company is expanding its operations by setting up new collection and processing hubs in the US and Europe.
Paladin’s growth is driven by acquisitions and investments in collection infrastructure, transforming it into a fully integrated international operation. Bill Vasquez, the company’s chief operating officer, says, “We’ve only just begun but we’re already witnessing fast business growth.”
Paladin has acquired existing businesses in Florida, Maryland, and Minnesota, among other states, to roll out a network of recycling and collection hubs across the US.
This expansion has enabled the company to increase its capacity to process and recycle electronic waste, including laptops, servers, and other IT equipment, allowing them to better serve their customers.
In January, Paladin acquired R&L Recycling of the Netherlands, a company specializing in reuse and secure data destruction. R&L will continue to operate under its existing name, with the current management team remaining in place.
Following this acquisition, they acquired a second European hub, ICT of Dublin, Ireland, in February. ICT is believed to be the country’s first R2-certified IT Asset Disposition provider.
Brian Diesselhorst, Paladin’s CEO, says, “This acquisition strengthens our ability to support customers in Dublin, the EU’s ‘data centre capital’, and across Ireland.”
Paladin’s expansion into Europe is driven by the rapid growth of data centers and cloud infrastructure, resulting in an increasing amount of decommissioned hardware that must be processed securely and sustainably.
Bill Vasquez notes that by targeting key locations like Dublin, Paladin is positioning itself at the centre of this emerging wave, which is expected to continue growing in the coming years.
In the US, Paladin has set up a joint venture with Critical Materials Recycling under the name Recapture. The partnership aims to collect and recycle rare earth metals from consumer, automotive, and industrial electronics.
This joint venture combines Critical Materials Recycling’s expertise in advanced material recovery with Paladin’s innovative environmental technology platform and global collection network, allowing for the efficient and sustainable recovery of critical materials.
